Trump is right to ban Muslims

Connie Althouse of Perry County says she hopes Donald Trump does not embarrass himself again and she is on the verge of dropping her support of him.

The Democratic National Convention highlighted Khizr Kahn's speech about his son, a Muslim who lost his life serving our country as a way to counteract the mother who lost her Special Forces son in Benghazi and blamed Hillary Clinton for it at the Republican National Convention ("Mike Pence defends military mom's right to criticize Donald Trump," Aug. 2).

However, in demonizing Donald Trump for calling on a temporary ban on Muslim refugees trying to come into this country from terrorist-infected areas of the Middle East, the bigger picture is missed. This country and the world is a lot different than it was 20 years ago when Mr. Khan came to this country before 9/11. The fact that we allowed many of the hijackers free access in our country contributed to the ease in which they carried out their 9/11 attacks.
