Baltimore County Council doesn't need another career politician

I was surprised by The Sun's endorsement of Wade Kach for Baltimore County Council ("Baltimore County endorsements," Oct. 27).

Our federal, state and local governments seem overpopulated by entrenched career politicians whose main interest seems to be to perpetuate their government employment — a condition your editorial calls "experience."

In Laurie Taylor-Mitchell I find a community-focused parent who worked against entrenched interests to create a hybrid school board. As a resident, she has devoted years of time and effort to improving the conditions in county schools.

Like Mr. Kach, Ms. Taylor-Mitchell is an experienced educator. Unlike Mr. Kach, she is not a career politician.

Our government needs more citizen legislators like Ms. Taylor-Mitchell and fewer career politicians like Mr. Kach.
