Senate filibuster threat is nothing new [Letter]

Your editorial regarding Senate Republicans has the usual complaints that liberals make about court appointments not being confirmed because of Republican obstruction ("Senate obstructionists run wild," Nov. 18).

However, you go on to complain that George W. Bush's appointees were never treated this shabbily. That claim is so outrageously false that it constitutes a deliberate misrepresentation of the facts. Several Bush nominees to the same court that you whine about now were also denied votes that you now seek for President Barack Obama's nominees.

What goes around comes around. Perhaps those with better memories than The Sun are now returning favors. Please do us all a favor — more reporting of history and fewer attempts to recreate it.
