Jon Stewart is a liberal. So what?

David Zurawik's criticism of Jon Stewart seems to miss the point ("Jon Stewart made politics entertaining — and highly partisan," Aug. 2). Everyone knows that Jon Stewart is a liberal. He makes no effort to hide his support for progressive causes. This includes attacking Democrats on certain issues, especially the use of drones in the Middle East. To suggest that he should have been more even handed in his criticism is absurd. Using his own analogy, does Mr. Zurawik criticize MASN for not giving even coverage to the Orioles' and Nationals' opponents? The purpose of the network is clearly stated, so the biased coverage is a moot point. The hypocrisy here is stunning considering that Mr. Zurawik regularly appears on Fox News, a network every bit as biased as The Daily Show while claiming to be "fair and balanced." I am surprised a Baltimore Sun writer does not hold himself up to the same journalistic standards he expects of the host of a show on Comedy Central.
