Anne Arundel County Councilman John Grasso simply needs to use a famous quote as his mantra, "are there no workhouses?" ("Grasso calls people who seek government assistance 'freeloaders,'" Jan. 8.) He probably thinks one should plan for medical bills that drive families into poverty, or for job losses. One can only save so much when working at a minimum wage job. Yes, we should strive to live within our means, but sometimes life doesn't cooperate. But let's not let those "freeloaders" stay in Anne Arundel County!
