Ivanka for president?

Ivanka Trump introduced her father as the "the people's nominee" on the final night of the Republican National Convention in Cleveland July 22, 2016. (Washington Post)

Ivanka Trump gave a nice speech and seems like a nice person ("Daughter Ivanka Trump raises issues her father rarely mentions," July 22). She is not a doctrinaire Republican, even though she likes her father.

She is for women, supports equal pay for equal work and may even hold some of the tolerant values of other millennials. She is sunny and projects optimism, not the grim fear, darkness and hatred that her father does so well. (Just why does he and not her mother, Ivana, who divorced him, get the credit for Ivanka's admirable qualities?)

In any case, Ivanka is not running for president, her father is. If he wins the election, he and his rabid followers will call the shots. A vote for Donald is not a vote for Ivanka.
