All the talk in the world couldn't prevent Israel from annexing Palestinian land and driving the Palestinians into tiny enclaves like Gaza and the West Bank. So why oppose the Boycott, Divest and Sanctions movement that demands immediate, concrete action against Israel's numerous violations of international law ("Cardin, don't tie U.S. hands for Israel," April 21)?
We supposedly fight wars to defend the rule of law. When some European Union nations want to end their complicity with Israel's colonial rule it is not just their right, it is their duty to do so under the international laws that we support when it is in our interest.
Hopefully, America's allies in Europe will, for once, reject any U.S. attempt to block the BDS resolutions. Israel's colonial rule over Palestine may be a relic of a terrible past, but it is no longer sustainable.
