In response to John Hutchinson's letter, there is a vast difference between the organized terrorist group ISIS and an isolated, deranged killer in Colorado ("In Colorado, ISIS by another name," Nov. 30).
Shootings at Planned Parenthood clinics and abortion clinics are extremely rare, but terrorist attacks, frequently committed by Islamic extremists, are an increasing threat worldwide. One doesn't have to watch Fox News to conclude this.
Mr. Hutchinson speculates that the killer in Colorado was possibly motivated by, among other things, a "pro-life belief that women have no right to choose what is right for them." Yet he fails to mention what this choice constitutes.
Should men, for example, have the same choices, since they are just as responsible for a pregnancy as the woman?
Nobody argues for abortion rights by describing in detail what abortion does to the fetus' body and the permanent guilt and regret some women feel after an abortion.
Since 1973, there have been over 50 million abortions in the U.S. The vast majority have been for convenience and birth control. This statistic alone makes me ashamed of my country and disheartened to be an American. The right to life is the most basic of all freedoms.
