U.S. must confront ISIS threat [Letter]

The eyes of ISIS
(LA Times/ David Horsey)

The Islamic terrorist group ISIS could easily attack the United States to establish itself as the world's most dangerous terrorist group ("Syria's slippery slope," Aug. 26). There also should be no doubt Islamic State sleeper cells are already planted on U.S. soil.

There are already indication of ISIS sleeper cells in Europe that could easily target United States embassies and other American interests. ISIS militants with valid passports might easily travel to the United States to launch attacks on American soil. There are indications that ISIS is actively recruiting Westerners and European Muslims who could easily enter the U.S. ISIS is actually more dangerous then the terrorist group that planned and carried out the Sept. 11 attacks.

The U.S. can best respond to the beheading of American journalist James Foley by ISIS militants through more and stronger air strikes. We must now get serious about confronting this ISIS force which includes arming those battling it. Our Congress must be more proactive in its authority in foreign affairs and encouraging President Barack Obama to specifically go after this terrorist organization

The enemies are now at our doorstep. We need to go all out after them and kill and or destroy them in total and you do not negotiate with these terrorists.
