Iran's true purpose is clear

Adil Shamoo's recent commentary ("Netanyahu wants war," March 4) ignores the inconvenient truth that for years, Iranian leaders have been calling to "wipe Israel off the map of the Earth" as well as promising "death to America."

The inconvenient truth is that the Iranians are eagerly working to build nuclear weapons as well as inter-continental ballistic missiles that can reach our shores. Iran claims to have only peaceful purposes for their nuclear program. One doesn't need ICBMs, heavy water facilities and hundreds of centrifuges for peace.

Mr. Shamoo's last statement reveals the true intention of this article when it states, "the Congress should not look far as to why ISIL recruitments are on the rise — all members have to do is look at their guest speaker [Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu]."

To blame the Israeli leader for the evil of ISIL's terrorism is pure anti-Semitism.
