Baltimore's real problem: Income inequality

Television news is filled with self-proclaimed authorities saying the solution to problems in cities like Baltimore is to reform the criminal justice system ("Six officers charged in death of Freddie Gray," May 1).

Maybe if the police wore pink uniforms things would be wonderful, but probably not.

Isn't it obvious that the root of the problems in most of the world is income inequality? People are willing to take desperate measures in some cases just to get enough food to eat.

Maybe the problem is too big to fix, but let's at least quit posturing and offering false solutions.
