I am ashamed today to be a Baltimore County resident after our County Council voted overwhelmingly against making it illegal for landlords to discriminate against tenants whose rent is subsidized in part by government vouchers ("Baltimore County Council rejects housing anti-discrimination bill," Aug. 1).
This was a vote against homeless and low-income families. We expect our council members to oppose all forms of bias and discrimination, whether based on gender, race, religion or economic condition.
Council members who opposed this measure need to look deeply into their conscience and sense of decency.
