Mayor should thank her lucky stars for Hogan's intervention

In response to Councilwoman Mary Pat Clarke's letter regarding Gov. Larry Hogan's lack of good manners in pointing out that Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake never thanked him from saving Baltimore during the precarious riots, I wholeheartedly disagree with her assessment ("Governor needs some manners," May 5).

As I recall, Governor Hogan brought in the National Guard. What did the mayor do to control the uncivilized behavior? There is certainly a lack of leadership in Baltimore City politics. Baltimore's mayor should metaphorically shine Mr. Hogan's shoes.

Ms. Rawlings-Blake, who acknowledged that her administration "gave those who wish to destroy space to do that as well," is clearly an incompetent mayor. She should have been a candidate for impeachment.

It may be time to construct a wall around Baltimore rather than Mexico. It reminds me of a Third World country and the politics is dominated by the Democratic Party. The schools are an abysmal failure and the criminal element continues to be out of control. How about a biblical solution like bringing back capital punishment in Maryland? It worked for theocratic Israel.
