Leadership failures in environmental, abortion and foreign policies

And so it begins.

One of the first decisions made by Maryland's new governor was to rescind environmental regulations meant to help the Chesapeake Bay return to good health.

One of the pieces of legislation the "new" House of Representatives just passed was to remove rights women have fought long and hard to have over their own bodies.

And then the leader of the House Republicans invites Israel's prime minister to speak to Congress, right in the middle of serious negotiations with Iran and without consultation with his own president. England, France and Germany were so aghast at this action that they wrote a op-ed that appeared in The Washington Post.

So much for forward-thinking environmental actions. So much for hard-won civil liberties. So much for sane and sensible foreign policies.

I just hope there are enough checks in place to keep our new crop of politicians from not only turning far to the right but from falling on their faces with their noses over the edge of their flat earth.
