Forget maglev, fix the roads

Concerning The Sun's editorial on Gov. Larry Hogan's interest in maglev ("Hogan goes for a ride," June 7), I suggest that Governor Hogan forget about wasting taxpayer money on maglev, the Red and Purple light rail lines and any other color transit line for that matter.

Rather, he should insist the Maryland Department of Transportation spend the gas tax money already collected on fixing our roads and bridges. A perfect place to start would be to fix Route 45, York Road, a major state thoroughfare between Cockeysville and Timonium. The condition of this road is a state disgrace! And, do not give the contract to whatever company that did the "repairs" on this stretch of highway a few years ago.

Most people who travel 10, 20 or 30 miles could care less about magnetic levitating trains, and I suspect the majority of the state's citizens could care less about the Red and Purple Lines.
