As President-elect Donald Trump prepares to take office, Breitbart News Network stands poised to become one of the most influential conservative media companies in the country. Here are some of Breitbart's plans for expansion.
Governor Hogan's office has been the recipient of many calls asking him to follow the vast majority of Maryland's senators and representatives in condemning the hate crimes and racist remarks. At one point, the staff in his office would read a statement which was dismissive of our complaints and when asked, said that the governor would not be making his statement public.
Maryland's Attorney General has launched a hate hotline, which I applaud ("Frosh launches Maryland hate crime hotline," Nov. 17). But it's time for the governor to take a stand as well. According to state law, a hate crime is: "Racial, religious or ethnic statements made during an incident; hate group symbols are displayed; motive of a crime is to harm, injure or intimidate a particular group or organization or the victim perceives it to be a hate crime."
Since you don't seem to know what is going on in your state, Governor Hogan, rest assured that we, the residents of this state, will remind you. I'm sure that in the coming days many of us will be sending the governor articles of the hate crimes and racist issues that have plagued many of the counties we live in. I hope he takes those to heart and reverses course.
Taking a deep breath is not going to happen. Rather, we have been holding our breath, waiting to see where Mr. Hogan will lead. And the answer is that he has shown us that he won't. We want a leader who will lead all of Maryland, not just the parts he likes. Since this election, many of us have woken up to find our voices. We will be watching Governor Hogan like a hawk from now on and rest assured we will make our voices heard. We are all the governor's constituents and we deserve a governor for all of Maryland.
