Gov. Larry Hogan made a smart and responsible decision regarding the use of taxpayer dollars for health care ("Hogan's choice," May 17). Let's leave aside the issue of school funding and look at the governor's decision to follow the lead of the state legislature and allocate essential funding for family planning and prenatal services for women.
This just makes good fiscal sense. But it also gives hope to the most vulnerable among us that when they need care, they can get it. This is vital not just for individuals but for the health and well-being of our communities.
Therefore, we thank Governor Hogan for his wisdom and look forward to working with his administration as Maryland continues to be a national leader on health care reform.
