As Ehrlich aide, Hogan brought in unqualified people to run state agencies [Letter]

I was a Maryland Transit Administration employee when Larry Hogan was former Gov. Robert L. Ehrlich Jr.'s appointments secretary, and in my judgment many of their appointments at the MTA were questionable at best and in some cases a disaster.

For example, a professional ice dancer was hired for a high-paying position despite his lack of qualifications for a position in transit — but he did keep a Darth Vader figurine in his office. Maybe Mr. Hogan could explain his rationale for hiring that employee?

A new finance director was hired and fired in a short period of time. In addition to the agency head, a general manager was installed as a political appointee — and both eventually had to be fired.

In the human resources department all the managers were fired at the same time. (The department head was assigned to a lesser position at the MTA.) The replacement for the department head worked for a short period of time before being removed from the position.

Hopefully Mr. Hogan will clarify his criteria for hiring political appointees if elected governor.
