Hillary Rodham Clinton, the great obfuscator of truths, is going to run for the presidency ("Clinton offers campaign theme," April 13).

In proper conscience, I cannot cast my vote for Ms. Clinton. To do so would amount to an acceptance of her past, replete with secrecy, too many vagaries and less than ethical comportment.

We somehow need to get back to the era when politicians had no hidden agendas and were not molded by the media and the public to the point of deification.

What we need is sincerity and transparency from our next president. What we do not need is a candidate who keeps making the same glaring mistakes, only to have the public turn a blind eye and place her on some high holy pedestal.

Sadly, many will cast their vote for her by being totally duped by her aura, and not real substance.

To vote for Ms. Clinton would be a huge step backward for our nation. Please, one Clinton as president of the United States in my lifetime was plenty enough for me.
