In a recent article, Ellie Silverman reports on a speech given by Michael Peroutka to the North County Republican Club ("Peroutka talks God, country and council," June 11). She mentioned that the Anne Arundel County Councilman was a long time member of The League of the South. What she did not mention is the unbelievable hate-oriented nature of that organization.
Councilman Peroutka was criticized during the campaign for membership in this racist organization. But it goes beyond that. In a July 2014 League of the South newsletter, the writer advocated using weapons to engage in "guerrilla tactics" to assault politicians, unfriendly media and other groups. Mr. Peroutka was a member of the organization when this newsletter was published. He did not resign until October 2014.
That is the really frightening part. It's time The Sun started talking about hate groups.
