Letter writer James B. Astrachan suggests putting ladders around Baltimore's harbor so if anyone fell in they could climb out ("Ladders around the harbor would save lives," Oct. 16).
Because of the danger of falling in I don't go to the harbor as much as I used to, and when I had young children I was always been concerned by the fact that there was no fence around the water.
Is there a reason why they don't put up an attractive fence of some kind? With the crowds of people that go there now, it seems that would be the logical thing to do. Am I missing something?
