The author of the letter, "More anti-gun tirades" (June 17), writes that the Second Amendment "had nothing to do with hunting and everything to do with our ability to defend ourselves from the enemies of the state." And he makes it very clear (reading between the lines) that to those buying weapons of war, those enemies of the state are "agenda-driven anti-gun nuts" and liberals with their empathy with minorities, immigrants and refugees.
If this doesn't send a chill down the spine of anyone in a democracy, then just read some of the propaganda of the right-wing "prepers" who are arming themselves to the hilt, stocking up food and supplies, going off-grid and preparing to "take back their country."
