There are still a lot of unanswered questions regarding the recent death of 25-year-old African-American Freddie Gray while in custody of Baltimore police officers ("Baltimore police protests expected to continue Tuesday," April 21).
The key questions are where, when, how and by whom did Mr. Gray receive his spinal cord injury which severed 80 percent of his spinal cord and directly led to his death? Did the injury occur on the streets while being apprehended, in the police van on the ride to the police station or at the police station itself? What could have prompted someone to give him such a severe injury?
On what grounds was Mr. Gray being arrested? Since Mr. Gray had over 20 arrests, did any of the police officers who arrested him this time have prior dealings with him? Could one had had a grudge against him? Why was there the need to drag him by the police, which seems pretty abusive?
Finally, did Mr. Gray have a pre-existing medical condition which may have contributed to the spinal cord injury, and which was made worse in his encounter with the police?
