Having listened to the news conference about Freddie Gray, I am completely aghast that officials keep saying Mr. Gray was talking and walking when officers picked him up off of the ground ("Baltimore police focus on van ride in investigation of Freddie Gray's death," April 21).
Am I the only one who sees that he is not moving his feet as if he were walking and that he was being held up under his arms by the officers and dragged to the van?
I could hear him moaning, though his words were indecipherable. Yet it sounded like he did say something to the officers.
I hope someone more qualified than myself can identify what is wrong with Mr. Gray's feet and also his arms, which do not appear to be moving either. Am I looking at something different than what the officials giving the news conference saw?
I am not against the police. There are many excellent officers out there doing their jobs and not getting respect for the work that they do.
But, why are these tragedies occurring with such frequency? My sincere sympathy goes out to Mr. Gray's family. My hope is that the truth will be found in this horrible scenario.
