Freddie Gray case attorneys need to tone down the rhetoric

To the attorneys in the Freddie Gray case: Please stop with the inflammatory, hyperbolic, exaggerated imagery and language in your legal filings. As just one example, the prosecutors' briefing as highlighted in the article "Prosecutors say attempts to remove Mosby from Freddie Gray case 'distort facts'" (June 19) makes me cringe as a practicing lawyer. Persuasive writing is ineffective when every other word is an adjective or a cliche. Persuasive writing is grounded in logic and not an attempt to grab headlines. Tone it down, and your point will become more clear. As you have argued in your filings, this case is not to be tried in the media.
