Regarding the Freddie Gray indictments, the grand jurors did the only thing they felt they could do that would avoid further rioting in Baltimore — make the indictments ("Officers indicted in death of Gray," May 22).
So now, if the police officers' trials will be held in Baltimore or in any of the surrounding counties, the trial jurors are going to be making their decisions with this primary thought in their minds: imprisoning a few police officers for extended terms is infinitely to be preferred than to make a decision that would set off new rioting.
In the circus environment that has been created here, the only way that fair trials can result is to have them as far from Baltimore as possible. Nevada wouldn't be too remote.
