I was sickened by Anne Arundel County Councilman John Grasso's comment that people who seek housing aid are "freeloaders" ("Grasso calls people who seek government assistance 'freeloaders,'" Jan. 8).
I was even more sickened by the applause and support his callous comments received. Although affordable housing may be a complex and difficult issue, Mr. Grasso's wholesale lack of compassion and his dehumanization of struggling human beings made me hope that neither he nor his supporters claim to be Christians.
