This year's Grand Prix should be the last

I dare say that the Baltimore Grand Prix is the only sport that the vast majority of Baltimore-area citizens actively hope will go under ("Grand Prix impact felt beyond racetrack," Sept. 1).

That's entirely understandable. The race is horribly polluting, no only in terms of the offensive noise that it generates but also regarding the exhaust produced by the cars in a city known for a lack of good air circulation.

It is terribly disruptive to traffic and businesses in a major segment of the city of Baltimore. Few, if any, of the drivers are household names, and the event has even fewer redeeming virtues.

Let us hope that good sense prevails by making the 2013 race the last one in Baltimore.
