Baltimore Grand Prix: We can do something about it

Dan Rodricks thinks we should simply accept the city's upcoming IndyCar race as inevitable ("Grand Prix's coming, so quit the bellyaching," Aug. 18). He is half right.

Instead of just complaining, we should be demanding an honest accounting of the real costs and benefits of this race. We should require transparency in the planning process and insist that the various deals and arrangements made by City Hall be made public.

Then, armed with the facts, we should go to the polls on Sept. 13 and vote.

Rodricks is wrong to say there's nothing we can do about it. We can vote, and that can change everything.
