Hogan, the stay-at-home governor

With the swearing in of our new governor, we as Marylanders can now begin the moving forward process in Annapolis and Maryland. Yes, the governor who essentially thumbed his nose at many of his constituents has moved out of Government House.

I was always of the mindset that former Gov. Martin O'Malley simply could not connect with the middle-class and poor people in this state. For the past two years, Mr. O'Malley expended lots of time and effort toward feeling out national recognition of the name O'Malley, perhaps in laying the foundation for a presidential run.

He was seemingly jetting off to destinations (other than Maryland) his entire tenure as governor. Wasn't there a part in his gubernatorial contract where he swore to "protect and serve" his constituents? How do you serve your constituents when you are 2,000 miles from them?

I get the feeling that Gov. Larry Hogan, who openly proclaims he loves the state, will be a stay at home kind of guy. And that suits me just fine.
