Disappointing GOP debate

I watched much of Wednesday night's GOP debate but finally had to shut it off. Much of it was sheer political drivel and posing without displaying any wisdom or talent ("This time, Trump is grounded by barrage from his GOP rivals," Sept. 17).

Donald Trump again proved to be a self-promoting bully, and it is easy to see why Sen. Ted Cruz is the most disliked senator in the District of Columbia even among his Republican colleagues. The most objectionable statements centered around de-funding Planned Parenthood based on false evidence that came from a doctored-up video and a virtually unanimous desire to tear up the Iran nuclear agreement when such action would do nothing other than allow Iran to go back to building a nuclear bomb after the leverage we had on Iran in the form of an embargo on Iranian oil imports by our negotiating allies has been lifted by those same allies.

If this is the best the Republican Party can offer, we are all in deep trouble.
