Dan Rodricks' praise of Baltimore leaders and comeback neighborhoods ("There's a lot about Baltimore to be thankful for," Nov. 25) is wonderfully complemented by the great piece on Diana Gaines' work on Madeira Street in East Baltimore ("Madeira Street turnaround shows 'any place can be good,'" Nov. 24). Ms. Gaines is but one example of leaders who are, across Baltimore, volunteering their time and talent to engage their neighbors in redeveloping Baltimore, block by block. The Baltimore Community Foundation is fortunate to be able to support leaders who are building the resident engagement necessary to safe, clean, green and vibrant neighborhoods. These too-often unheralded heroes are the key to our city's future.
