It seems pretty clear that the thugs in Frederick County want to apprehend illegal immigrants through their children attending Frederick County public schools. It is inescapable that the effects of this will be even more tragic estrangement of immigrant children from their parents.
Even assuming the most humane deportation procedures it is clear that the parents of these children will be incarcerated for an extended period. This vigorous local enforcement of federal immigration laws will obviously result in circumspect parents being reluctant to send their children to school (which is already occurring in Alabama). Note that I am not distinguishing "immigrant" from "illegal immigrant" since it should be clear that anyone who looks and/or talks different must necessarily be caught up in this dragnet.
It is clear that Frederick County is devoting 14 percent of their law enforcement resources to immigration enforcement and that apprehending 1,000 illegals last year begs the question of how many legal immigrants were needlessly harassed or subject to surveillance.
What I particularly object to is that Frederick County is unique in having vigorously defended its right to display the Ten Commandments in a public park. The Pentateuch which followed the giving of these Commandments is alarmingly alien-friendly. Page after page required the ancient Hebrews to treat immigrants kindly, not to take advantage of them and to treat them as one would their own children; see Leviticus 19:33-34 for starters. In light of this immigration law enforcement, it is an astounding sacrilege that Frederick County would purport to have any affinity with the Judeo-Christian heritage. I suggest the Commandments be decently covered up until the otherwise sane people of Frederick County come to their senses
