After reading the responses of Baltimore writers to the death of Freddie Gray, I too felt the need to weigh in ("Baltimore writers reflect on Freddie Gray's death," May 16).
Kudos to the frontline clergymen who preached the power of peace; to the gang leaders who forged a truce and spoke out against violence; and to the multitude of local and national activists who marched peacefully and purposefully to City Hall.
Freddie Gray was the catalyst for all these activities whose heroes, in their own way, raised their voices and showed the courage to challenge police brutality and corruption in our city.
Now I'm waiting for the second act : The arraignment, trial and verdict.
