Franchot right about $7.2 million UM president's house

Your editorial ("Franchot drifts right," Dec. 26) followed by the recent story regarding Comptroller Peter Franchot's dissenting vote ("Plan OK'd to replace UM president's house," Jan. 5), proves Mr. Franchot got it right (meaning correct) when he voted not to approve replacing the University of Maryland President's house with a $7.2 million dwelling.

In these tough economic times, we also need to watch even the pennies at government level. Mr. Franchot should run for governor.
