The frackers are coming, the frackers are coming!

History, myth, and legend informs those of us in the United States that on a chilly night in 1775 a relative of mine mounted his horse, and as loudly as he could, rode through the streets of Boston proclaiming that an invading fleet was entering the harbor aiming to muzzle and arrest any acts of resistance to tyranny. Likewise, in our own time, I am now compelled to take mount and proclaim, Marylanders all, hear my call! The Frackers are coming, the Frackers are coming! ("O'Malley administration sets out path to fracking," Nov. 25.) Profiteers ignoring best practices have long been killing our Chesapeake Bay, back filling wetlands and poisoning our pollinators. Now they're on the move to gobble up and contaminate the very groundwaters that sustain our lives here in the "Land of Pleasant Living." Citizens hear me now, frackers are hackers, and from the mountains to the shores the time is at hand to draw a line in our soil, before it's all sand.
