I live in Northwest Baltimore, and my neighborhood is being overrun by wild foxes with various stages of mange.
Animal Control workers have set two traps in the neighborhood but claim they don't have any more available.
Meanwhile, the foxes are running wild, chasing children riding their bikes down the street and causing everyone in the neighborhood to fear going outside.
We are afraid of letting our pets out for fear of they will be attacked by the foxes. It is possible the foxes could also be rabid. A rabid fox was captured less than three miles from here the other day ("Rabid fox found in Pikesville," June 4).
What is a community to do — wait until someone is bitten or a pet is killed?
I have talked with many government and private wildlife agencies, and no one seems to want to help with this issue. I have lived in my home more than 30 years and have never encountered anything like this.
I hope the city will look into this and see what additional measures Animal Control or other agencies can take to help us solve this problem.
