Let's take a few minutes and try to understand the merits of the positions offered by both Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake and Gov. Larry Hogan ("Mayor feuds with Hogan," June 17). The mayor and her police commissioner are obviously in over their heads, unable to govern, unable to lead.
So the mayor goes to the governor requesting money to throw in what many consider the toilet, Baltimore, noted for its high murder rate per capita. The mayor wants the state to pay for damages inflicted by the citizens of Baltimore, unchecked by the Baltimore police force. It was interesting to note during the riot, Baltimore police force backed up, and surrounding counties, in support, moved forward in the face of adversity.
The state has leadership, with the notable exception of House Speaker Michael Busch and Senate President Thomas V. Mike Miller who continue to focus on tax and spend under the auspices of serving the able-bodied but refusing to work constituency. Don Schaefer, we need you!
