With regard to the article about efforts of a few Federal Hill residents to close 17 bars due to a questionably managed and over-attended St. Patrick's Day street party, their stance does not represent the view of most Federal Hill residents ("Neighbors take on bars over crawl on St. Patrick's," April 8).
Of the 17 bars mentioned, many are very good restaurants that enthusiastically and professionally serve excellent food to Federal Hill residents in addition to giving back to the community on many levels. The suggestion to close these establishments is short-sighted and reactionary. With regard to any future street party, limit attendance and improve oversight and security. Or else don't issue permits for the event.
