Next election can't come too soon

By all means, let's have an election ("We need an election," Aug. 2). I wish it was this year. The 2010 election demonstrated that the American people are paying more attention to the economy and will decide in 2012 whether the United States will spend like Greece or stop the bleeding now by absorbing significant short and long-term spending cuts that will be felt across all sectors of the economy.

With unemployment well over 9 percent and climbing, the rhetoric of hope and change will not work in 2012 as it did in 2008. I cannot wait for the debate. Albeit, there are probably some current members of the U.S. Congress as well as a president who may wish there was more time.
