Rep. Donna Edwards seems to have confused affirmative action with an election ("Edwards holds endorsement as Democrats seek unity," May 28). She is whining about "racial and gender diversity," which is legitimate in the workplace, but not in an election. She seems to feel that she should have been elected solely upon those criteria but fails to understand an election represents the will of the people.
She lost an election and should accept it graciously and move to keep Barbara Mikulski's U.S. Senate seat in the hands of a Democrat instead of complaining. Her actions only support the conclusion that members of her party did choose wisely by choosing Rep. Chris Van Hollen as their nominee.
