Dirt bike park wouldn't work

Again, the subject of a dirt bike park was mentioned in Dan Rodricks' column in The Baltimore Sun ("Time to push again for a Baltimore dirt bike park," July 9). The pros have been expressed several times before, but one thing has been little discussed is how the dirt bike riders will be able to get their bikes to the park. Most, if not all, of the bikes are unregistered motor vehicles. This means that it will be against the law to drive them to the park. Thus, the need for a trailer or a large van to transport them. How many of these riders have a vehicle large enough to transport their bike to the park if it was built?

Finally, The Sun's editorial board expressed a similar misgiving ("Still a menace," July 18): How would the riders transport their bikes to the facility if they couldn't legally drive on the streets? I'm glad to see that someone else has come up with the same question.
