Step up dirt bike enforcement

I believe Baltimore could eliminate its dirt-biker problems if we honestly tried ("Incidents highlight city's dirt-biker problems," June 14). How long must we wait until one of these lawbreakers causes a fatality? Already, an 18-year-old pedestrian is suffering from a skull fracture and traumatic brain injury and a driver received serious injuries after being assaulted by one of these fiends. Then imagine what might happen if an outraged bystander shot and killed a rider popping wheelies? No doubt riots would ensue out of sympathy for the "victim."

I live at the Inner Harbor and watch these gangs roar down President Street, ignoring red lights and traffic rules. It's a regular occurrence. One point Detective Nicole Monroe failed to mention is that our area has multiple surveillance cameras. So why is it so hard to identify the riders? And then there's Foxtrot, the police helicopter — why hasn't it followed the dirt bikers to their final destination? Arrests could be made there. These are two simple ideas the police apparently ignore.

I'm sick of living in a city with so much crime, destruction of property and general mayhem. If the dirt bike gangs are waved through, then one thing leads to another, doesn't it?
