I find the hypocrisy of Baltimore County State's Attorney Scott Shellenberger in arguing the death people is needed astounding ("Maryland should reinstate the death penalty," Jan. 6).
Mr. Shellenberger talks about the importance of the death penalty but fails to mention that the candidates he has consistently and strongly supported for political office are the very ones who eliminated it in the first place.
As a matter of fact, he recorded radio commercials in the last election for a gubernatorial candidate who has always opposed the death penalty.
Does he not understand that people like him, who consistently support anti-death penalty politicians, are ultimately the ones to blame for its disappearance?
