In 1963 a gunman in Dallas killed the president of the United States. Fifty-three years later in Dallas, gunmen killed our country and everything we stand for ("Dallas sniper attack: 5 police officers dead, 7 wounded; suspect identified," July 8).

Because that's what will happen if we don't rise up against access to assault weapons and for the rights of all Americans to live in peace regardless of race or religion.
