Revenge is no solution

In Matthew 5:38, it says "an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth." The verses that follow clarify the meaning of that passage: It restates the truism that revenge begets revenge and nothing gets resolved.

It also corrects the belief among many people that revenge is appropriate. Referencing the chapter and verses in regards to Baton Rouge, St. Paul, and Dallas, one can see its relevance for today.

Revenge begets no solution and "an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth" will eventually render us all blind.

As Matthew Henry said, "there are none so blind as those that will not see." Will we be able to see what is right or are we condemned to be blinded by our thirst for revenge forever?
