I often wonder why there is so much objection to President Barack Obama's immigration policy ("Stakes high for Obama plan," Feb. 9). Have North Americans forgotten the airlift campaign of November 1965 to April 1973, when almost 261,000 Cubans were airlifted from Cuba to Miami, all at U.S. taxpayer expense?
