New incentives for Congress not to fail: Shooting, branding or detention

Republican presidential candidates rail against federal agencies that are useless, but we now see that the worst offender is Congress.

In the old days people who failed tasks were locked in a room until they succeeded or taken out and shot. Nathaniel Hawthorne imagined an early America where a scarlet letter "A" was emblazoned on a woman caught in adultery.

As a tribute to the Founding Fathers and the tea party, we should brand members of Congress with a scarlet "C" when they fail the country. Or we could lock them inside junior high schools with the students assigned to detention class. No doubt many of them would prefer to be shot than be subjected to that.
