There is no place in today's "progressive" world for a monument to the Talbot Boys ("As Confederate symbols come down, 'Talbot Boys' endures," May 16).
The country might be better off if all historical monuments, statues and parks that remind us of racism are torn down or renamed.
Every monument to George Washington should be razed. Thomas Jefferson should be removed from the two dollar bill and his memorials bulldozed. Every Hollywood actor who ever uttered a racist comment should have their star removed from the walk of fame.
Every street in America should be renamed to promote a more "progressive" view that mirrors the demographics of today's society and obliterates its history. Erase from the minds of our children that nasty old U.S. history and replace it with current events of today.
Undermine the family structure and overwhelm their minds with violence, hate and divisiveness. Teach them to be selfish and dependent on the state and above all, erase from their memories the historic documents and events that guided this country.
Sorry if this is a familiar story; I read it in "1984," by George Orwell.
