I was stunned when Hillary Clinton in effect described millions of Trump supporters as "deplorables" ("Trump, in Baltimore, calls Clinton's 'deplorables' remark disqualifying," Sept. 12).
I have family members and friends, including a World War II veteran, who are going to vote for Mr. Trump, and they are not sexist, racist, xenophobic or homophobic.
With such an ill-considered remark, Ms. Clinton has unwittingly ensured that they will do everything they can to get to the polls and persuade their friends to vote for Mr. Trump too.
Unfortunately, Ms. Clinton is her own worst enemy. Her badly managed campaign may well result in Mr. Trump's election, which would be an unparalleled tragedy for our country.
